SOEC Electrolyzers
The game-changing electrolysis solution for industrial settings. Running at 850 °C, SOEC electrolyzers utilize industrial off-heat to process water steam (and CO2) to renewable hydrogen or syngas at lowest electricity costs.
Over decades, we have been excessively consuming coal, crude oil and natural gas, releasing billions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. Sunfire’s mission is to replace these fossil fuels with renewable energy, turning renewable electricity – and captured CO2 – into renewable gases and liquids.
Sunfire brings renewables everywhere. Our electrolyzers produce renewable hydrogen and syngas, a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, from renewable electricity, water steam and captured CO2. With our electrolysis solutions, we help energy-intensive industries and climate-conscious businesses to decarbonize entire value chains: From logistics over material inputs to energy supply.
Sunfire-HyLink electrolyzers produce renewable hydrogen – the feedstock and energy carrier that decarbonizes industries as well as the energy and mobility sector.
Sunfire-SynLink electrolyzers produce renewable syngas – the feed gas for different hydrocarbon products such as e-Fuel and chemicals.
Synthetic transport fuels (“e-Fuel”) produced from renewable syngas substitute fossil fuels such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.
Sunfire’s electrolyzers based on Alkaline and solid oxide (SOEC) technologies are the optimal electrolysis solution for all hydrogen and syngas applications. High temperature SOEC electrolyzers are the preferred choice for industrial applications when steam (and CO2) is available. For all applications without or limited steam availability, Sunfire’s ultra-reliable pressurized Alkaline electrolyzers are the cost-effective solution for hydrogen production.
The game-changing electrolysis solution for industrial settings. Running at 850 °C, SOEC electrolyzers utilize industrial off-heat to process water steam (and CO2) to renewable hydrogen or syngas at lowest electricity costs.
SOEC electrolyzers target the largest cost driver in hydrogen and syngas production: renewable electricity. By integrating off-heat from industrial processes, our SOECs achieve an electrical efficiency of up to 84 %LHV to AC, realizing substantial savings on renewable electricity.
SOEC electrolyzers can process water and CO2 to syngas – in one single process step. The co-electrolysis capability generates a substantial efficiency and cost advantage over conventional two-step syngas production pathways using a reverse-water-gas-shift reactor.
The established electrolysis solution for renewable hydrogen production in any setting. With several decades of proven system runtime, our Alkaline electrolyzers are the reliable, ready-to-use solution for large hydrogen projects.
Alkaline electrolyzers are the rock-solid electrolysis solution with a proven system lifetime of at least 90,000 operating hours. They are ideally suited for any hydrogen project in which reliability and robustness is of elevated importance.
Alkaline electrolyzers deliver hydrogen at a pressure of up to 30 bar(g). As most hydrogen off-takers require hydrogen at high pressure, the electrolyzers eliminate the need for costly investments into additional downstream compression units.
Sunfire is providing tailored electrolysis solutions to innovative, first-of-its kind industrial renewable hydrogen and e-Fuel projects: From industry over mobility to energy.
Sunfire-HyLink SOEC electrolyzers will produce renewable hydrogen for biofuel treatment processes in Neste’s refinery as a replacement for hydrogen produced from fossil natural gas.
Sunfire-SynLink SOEC electrolyzers will be integrated into the world’s first Power-to-Liquids (PtL) plant at industrial scale, producing 10 million liters of renewable jet fuel per year.
Sunfire-HyLink Alkaline electrolyzers will produce renewable hydrogen for heat supply and a hydrogen refueling station at an MPREIS food production center.
Sunfire-HyLink SOEC electrolyzers produce renewable hydrogen used for annealing processes in Salzgitter’s integrated steelwork as a replacement for hydrogen produced from fossil natural gas.
Sunfire is not only recognized as a global leader in SOEC technology – also high temperature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) are part of our product portfolio. Based on our proprietary fuel cell technology, the micro-CHP solution Sunfire-Home brings electricity and heat to private homes.
