Both public and private buildings consume large volumes of electricity and heat. Facilities characterized by critical infrastructure – for example hospitals or factories – are dependent on a constant, uninterrupted supply of electricity.
When integrated into our partners’ cogeneration plants, Sunfire’s Fuel Cell Systems ensure the reliable supply of environmentally friendly energy. Users receive clean electricity on demand as well as either specially generated or process-related heat – thus enabling them to reduce their primary energy consumption. The key is the use of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs) characterised by over 90 percent overall efficiency and a high level of electrical efficiency (over 50 percent).
High levels of reliability enable users to benefit from low running and maintenance costs. Other advantages include low-noise operation and good suitability for use in part load mode. SOFCs generally run on natural gas, and when combined with innovative refrigeration concepts such as absorption refrigeration plants, they also represent a highly efficient source of refrigeration.
